This artifact is a self assessment of my leadership skills and how I have exceeded within the scope of leadership and advocacy.
The purpose of this assignment was to interview someone in an counselor and education position and explore theri supervision style and their experiences in the field of counselor educator.
This artifact provided the experience of filling a research proposal. It is important for counselor educators to utilize the leadership and advocacy skills to provide evidence base articles and presentation to contribute to the proffesion
This artifact is my social justice and advocacy plan. It also demonstrates my worldviews and historic background and why I want to be an agent of change for the oppress and marginalized
One of the main areas of leadership that is organic and enates in me is the leadership and advocacy skills competencies. The reason why leadership is crucial to me is because humankind has the power to curse or bless a person. I strive to use the gift of leadership to be an agent of change towards the oppressed and marginalized communities. Becoming a leader and advocate in the field of counselor educator has enabled me to infuse an optimistic and positive attitude within my roles and responsibilities.
One of the main challenges in leadership and advocacy has been examining my world views biased stigmas surrounding multiculturalism and diverse populations because I, myself am part of a triple minority. There is high arousal for social justice and advocacy in the mental health field. One of the things which I exercise to keep me grounded in the ethical standards of the ACA and CACREP. Following the ACA and CACREP standards allows me to pivot with careful judgment my role in leadership and advocacy. At the same time, multiculturalism and diversity is a weakness of mine, it is also a strength. Leadership and advocacy is important for my clients welfare and counseling students. I oath to contribute to fairness, equity, and equality in the profession as a counselor educator.
